General Principles for HPCC ApplicationsThe Eastern Geographic Science Center (EGSC) High-Performance Computing Cluster is, first and foremost, a computational facility intended to support research projects and scientific computation. The HPCC is also intended to support the development of software to employ new parallel-processing techniques, or software intended to run on computational clusters, when this software addresses computational problems within the purview of the U.S. Geological Survey. Although the EGSC HPCC incorporates a Web server and provides a significant volume of data storage, it is not a database server nor is it a general-purpose Web server. For more information about the purpose and usage of the EGSC HPCC, please see the relevant page in the General Information Section of this Web site. |
